July 2008

July was a busy month for us. After returning from Oregon Bill celebrated his 44th birthday on the 8th. Bill didn't want to do anything too big so we we went out to dinner and Alana made him a chocolate cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberry filling. Unfortunately we managed to polish off the whole cake over the course of the week. Just the calories we needed.

Tyler finished summer school about mid-month and we celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary. We didn't do anything too exciting, just a nice family dinner at the Beachside Cafe. Alana received a dozen long stem roses and a giant balloon in the shape of a 9 that Tyler immediately took as his own.

The last weekend of the month we went up to Morgan Hill to visit Grandma and Grandpa Mok. It was our second date with A Day Out with Thomas and this time there were a lot more people and things to see. And of course, Tyler walked away with a couple more trains for his collection.

Oh, we have also added to our collection of animals. For Tyler's birthday he had received a little bug/animal enclosure. We decided to put a little Fire-Bellied Toad in it. It was a small container, only big enough for 1 toad. When we were in Oregon we left the toad with the neighbor boy Shane who happened to have 6 toads of his own. Well, I guess Tyler was feeling a little toad-envy after seeing Shane's set up. After we returned we went to the pet shop to pick up some crickets to feed our toad and Tyler had to check out the other toads at the store. He turned to me and raised 2 fingers and said "two fwogs Mama." So after some research we bought a nice terranium and we now have a total of 3 toads, one for each member of the family. Tyler loves watching them eat and jumping around the cage. Mom hates having to feed them live crickets.

A Day Out with Thomas - The Roaring Camp Railroad in Felton, CA

Always the goofballs

It’s not like we don’t have one of these at home…

Grandpa is just thrilled with the whole train ride with Thomas thing

A great shot of Mama, but Tyler didn’t want his picture taken

Hey! Look over there!

All right, don’t smile. I’ll just take the picture anyway.
